Marker Wash

Marker Wash (Flat)

How to:

A marker wash is a very simple and quick way to convey and communicate colour to a 2D sketch.

Fine line pen should be added to the sketch first, applying Thick & Thin lines, and then with a marker pen the outer edge is followed with the chisel tip of the marker pen. Allow that marker line to dry for approx. 40 seconds and then very quickly add consecutive lines to create a ‘wash’ of colour.

The result will give a ‘flat‘ appearance to the sketch but convey a light colour appearance.

Coloured pencils can be applied over the marker if required. The second image shows this process used across a number of the designs.
